Interlibrary Loan

If you need an article or book chapter, our OpenILL request form that will attempt to locate an available copy before sending the request to other libraries. It's a relatively new tool, so please let us know if it links you to the wrong article.

Borrowing from Other Libraries

The Interlibrary Loan service (ILL) allows current IUPUI faculty, staff, and students affiliated with IUPUI University Library or the Herron School of Art Library to borrow materials not owned by the library.

In addition to Interlibrary Loan, the library offers the Article Delivery Service, which allows current faculty, staff, and students affiliated with IUPUI University Library to request articles from within the Library’s print collection. Articles are scanned and delivered to the user’s ILL account.

Interlibrary Loan and Article Delivery Service requesting is done through the same online system, ILLiad. Borrowing from IUPUI University Library

Other libraries or organizations can request materials owned by IUPUI University Library or the Herron School of Art Library. You can find detailed information on How to Borrow from Us.

This service is only available to other libraries or organizations. We do not accept interlibrary loan requests from individuals. If you're an Indiana resident, you may apply for an IU Libraries Borrower's Card. If you are not an Indiana resident living in the Indianapolis area, please contact the interlibrary loan office of your local public or academic library.
